Spicy Split Peas

Dried split peas
(about 1/4 cup)
Method:
For a colorful combination, try half green and half yellow peas.
Heat water and peas to boiling.
Boil uncovered about 2 minutes; reduce heat.
Cover and simmer about 25 minutes or until peas are tender but not mushy; drain.
Heat margarine in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat.
Saute gingerroot, salt, turmeric, cumin and onion about 3 minutes or until onion is tender.
Stir in peas until evenly coated.
