Cabbage And Bacon Goulash

Butter

Potatoes, cut into smallish
-cubes

Carrots, sliced
Several whole small onions
-(one or two each)

Stalks of celery, sliced

Bay leaf

Water
1 1/2
lb
Peameal bacon, cut in bite
-size pieces

Cabbage, cut into chunks
Salt and pepper, and any
-herbs that you think would
-be nice

Milk
Method:
Melt butter in a heavy pot.
Add vegies, (but cabbage) and saute over medium heat for five minutes.
Add bacon and bay leaf, and stir for a couple more minutes.
Add water, seasonings, and simmer for an hour.
Add cabbage, and simmer for 15 minutes.
Add milk and bring to heat.
