Braised Red Onions

Butter/margarine

Red onions, thinly sliced
Salt & freshly ground black
-- pepper
Method:
Melt the butter in heavy-based pot over a moderate heat.
Add the onions & cook gently till translucent.
Season, then cover & simmer over a very low heat for 20 minutes.
Stir & transfer to a warmed serving dish.
