Ingredients:


500 gm flour
3 tbsp ghee
1 ½ cups milk
For syrup (optional):
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
For filling:
200 gm semolina
100 gm sugar
3 cardamoms
½ tsp cinnamon powder
1 tbsp ghee

Method:


Knead the flour, ghee and the milk into a hard dough, adding more milk, if necessary.
Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a kadhai and fry the semolina till it turns light golden
brown.
Remove from fire and add the sugar while the semolina is still hot. Mix in the
cardamoms and the cinnamon brown.
Remove from fire and add the sugar while the semolina is still hot. Mix in the
cardamoms and the cinnamon powder.
Divide the dough into small portions. Roll out each portion into a circle with
2 inches in diameter.
Place a portion of the filling in the centre and cover filling sealing the edges.
Prepare all the newries in this way.
You can use a mould to give the newries perfect shape. Heat oil and fry these
over a medium heat till they are light golden brown.
Prepare a syrup by boiling the sugar and the water. Once the newries are fried,
they can be left in the syrup for 2-3 minutes (this is optional) to make them
tastier.
Serve as a snack.
