Plum Barbecued Spareribs

Pounds fresh pork spareribs,

Method:
Great at picnics! Have plenty of Coleslaw, Cornbread and napkins on.
Place pork spareribs in Dutch oven.
Add enough water to cover spareribs (about 3 quarts) and the salt.
Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
Cover and simmer 40 minutes; drain.
While spareribs are simmering, remove pits from plums.
Sieve plums into 2-quart saucepan.
Stir in reserved plum syrup and remaining ingredients.
Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Place spareribs, meaty sides up, on rack in shallow roasting pan.
Spread with 2/3 of the plum mixture.
Bake uncovered about 45 minutes, brushing with remaining plum mixture 3 times, until spareribs are tender.
