Italian Sausages Rotini Salisiccia

Ingredients:


1 lb Rotini
Water,boiling,salted
1 1/2 lb Italian sausage,1/2" slices
4 oz Mushrooms,fresh,slices
1/3 c Green pepper,chopped
1/3 c Onion,chopped
1/4 c Butter or margarine
1/2 c Flour
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Mustard,dry
4 c Milk
1 1/2 c Cheddar cheese,shredded
1 1/2 c Swiss cheese,shredded
1 tb Worcestershire sauce

Method:


1.
Cook rotini in boiling salted water until firm, but not quite tender, 6 to 7 minutes; drain and set aside.
2.
Brown sausage on both sides in a large saucepan; remove from pan, reserving dripping.
3.
Add mushrooms, green pepper, onion and butter to sausage drippings; cook over medium heat 3 minutes.
4.
Stir in flour, salt and dry mustard.
5.
Gradually blend in milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
6.
Stir in cheeses and Worcestershire sauce; continue cooking until cheeses melt.
7.
Mix in sausage and rotini.
8.
Divide mixture between two greased 2-quart baking dishes; bake in preheated 350'F.
oven about 30 to 40 minutes.
9.
Serve hot.
*Note: Some of our viewers have suggested adding a can of crushed tomatoes.
