Ham And Brie Stuffed Apples

Ingredients:


4 lg Apples (about 2 pounds)
3/4 c Dry white wine or apple
Sliced or shredded
4 Ounces brie or swiss cheese,
1/4 ts Ground nutmeg
1 tb Chopped fresh chives
1 c Soft bread crumbs
Smoked ham
2 c Diced fully cooked
1 tb Margarine or butter
juice

Method:


We like the mild, sweet taste of Golden Delicious apples to complement.
Cut apples lengthwise in half.
Core each and remove pulp, leaving 1/2-inch shell.
Chop apple pulp; reserve.
Heat margarine over medium-high heat in 3-quart saucepan until melted.
Stir in ham, reserved apple pulp, bread crumbs, chives and nutmeg.
Cook and stir about 5 minutes until hot.
Stir in cheese until melted.
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Place apples, cut sides up in ungreased rectangular baking dish, 11 X 7 X 1-1/2 inches.
Divide filling evenly among apples.
Pour wine around apples.
Bake uncovered 25 to 30 minutes or until filling is light brown and apples are tender when pierced with fork.
Spoon wine in dish over apples several times during baking.
