First Time Chili

Water As Needed
Method:
In a large pot over medium heat cook the chopped onions in the oil, until clear.
Combine the meat with the garlic, cumin, chili powder and mix in a bowl.
Add this meat and spice mixture to the pot.
Break up the meat with a fork and cook, stirring as needed to keep meat from sticking or burning, until meat is evenly browned.
Stir in 1 cup of the water and salt.
Bring to a boil, add V8 Juice and immediately reduce heat and simmer.
Simmer uncovered for 2-1/2 to 3 hours, adding more water as needed to keep mixture from sticking, burning or becoming too thick.
Sauce should be like a medium gravy, not thick.
Cook until meat is tender and the flavors are well blended.
Serve with chopped onions and shredded cheese.
